We are working with Sony PWM F-55s this year. We have shot in 4k and 180 fps for slow-motion footage of sizzle reel food. Great camera.
The first day of shooting season 15 of ATK. This will be my tenth year on the show (I think). There is so little room for the jib that every year I have to think of something new to maximize the limited space. This year I put the joy stick and zoom control on one side of the weight bar. This gives me a little more room to swing the arm to the left. Every inch matters. Big News from my daughter, Daria Dingle, or should I say Big Noise. Our aspiring pop star is now being represented by Big Noise, an artist development firm that has represented the likes of Christine Aguilera and the Red Hot Chill Peppers to name a few. Check out Daria's work in progress with Big Noise.
Don't follow your dreams, chase them. Coming up to the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Like everyone else, I vividly remember where I was and how I heard about it. I was at the TD Garden setting up for a Bruins hockey game. During the fax check when we were all on headset checking things out, the director relayed a message that "a bomb went off at the marathon finish line." As events unfolded, the hockey game was cancelled so we packed up and went home. Then for the rest of the week we all followed the hunt for the bombers. We all know now how it turned out.
Later, in the Fall, I was hired by an British company to do some shooting with my jimmy jib in Boston for a documentary on the manhunt following the marathon bombing. We shot in the Watertown neighborhood where the crazy gun fight with the terrorists occurred. This doc will be airing soon on the National Geographic Channel. It's called "Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers." Air date Sunday April 13, 2014 at 9pm. Watch for it. Got some big jib jobs coming up with America's Test Kitchen and Antiques Roadshow. We shoot 26 episodes of ATK for 3 weeks every May. This will be my 10th (at least) year doing this. Then starting in late May it's the Antiques Roadshow....traveling to 8 cities across the US with an incredible group of professionals. I love both of these shows because there is no one better in the industry to work with!
